I am a Research Scholar in the Department of Electrical Engineering at the Indian Institute of Technology Ropar working under the supervision of Prof. C. C. Reddy. I am interested in the field of High Voltage Equipment, especially power cables. My current research focuses on the condition monitoring of power cables in the Frequency domain

In metropolitan cities like Mumbai, during summer there is an average of three cable failures per day. These numbers are even direr and alarming in other older metropolitan cities like Tokyo, New York, and other parts of the world, where cables are the sole medium to transmit power. These failures apart from having a huge impact on the economic system also cause hindrance to social and business aspects regarding the utility sector. In cable, there is no such reliable technique is available to localize all these deformities.

Therefore, my research is mainly concerned to develop a technology or devices which is capable to identify aged/weak portions in the cable. The weak cable portions are portions that are prone to failure due to reasons such as ageing, excessive temperature rise, high moisture content, heavy PD activity, etc., which cause changes in material properties.

The objective of my research is to bring up a device which can able to predict any  kind of deformities in cable in an online condition. the prototype will be automated through IoT. With the help of the device, the huge economic loss caused by the failure of the cable will be minimized.
